Sports News] According to British media reports, Chelsea’s new stadium project
is facing slow progress, potentially leading the club to leave Stamford Bridge
for a period of six years. Currently, Stamford Bridge has a seating capacity of
over 41,000, which is significantly lower than the capacities of Arsenal and
Tottenham Hotspur’s stadiums in London. Additionally, some stands at Stamford
Bridge are considered outdated. Chelsea has two options for their new stadium
project. The first option is to renovate Stamford Bridge in its current
location, which would require six years to complete. During this period,
Chelsea would need to find alternative stadiums, such as Wembley, to serve as
their home ground. The second option is to build a completely new stadium
elsewhere, which would involve purchasing land at an estimated cost of at least
£500 million. Since the new owner took over Chelsea, the club has reportedly
been disappointed with the slow progress of the new stadium project. There are
concerns that this delay could potentially put Chelsea at a competitive
disadvantage compared to Arsenal and Tottenham.
