[Saba Sports News] 35-year-old Chinese Olympic champion Chen Long has had a busy schedule in December. He first attended the BWF Awards ceremony, then participated in the Asian Badminton Elite Tour, while also visiting schools to educate young players. Chen Long’s hard work has paid off; on December 17, the Chinese Olympic Committee officially announced that he would serve as the coach for China’s youth badminton team. Regarding his new position, Chen Long expressed his willingness to contribute to the promotion of badminton, calling it a brand-new life journey. Although Chen Long may not be as famous as Lee Chong Wei, who has the label of one of the “Four Heavenly Kings,” in terms of honors, he surpasses Lee Chong Wei and other predecessors like Taufik Hidayat. During his career, Chen Long has won the gold medal in men’s singles at the Rio Olympics, the silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics, the bronze medal at the London Olympics, as well as championships at the World Championships and Asian Championships. In December of this year, Chen Long was also inducted into the BWF Hall of Fame for 2024.
