[Saba Sports News] In China’s largest badminton forum, Wang Lin, the coach of the Zhejiang team who accompanied Chen Yufei to the women’s singles podium at the 2025 15th National Games, has sparked intense attention from fans, becoming the focal point of discussion this week. Photos show that time seems to have left little mark on Wang Lin’s face. Although her role has shifted from athlete to coach, she remains one of the most beautiful sights on the court.
Wang Lin, who has always been low-key, firmly held the title of “China’s Badminton Queen” during her athlete days, captivating even the three-time Olympic silver medalist Lee Chong Wei. In the women’s singles final of the 2010 Badminton World Championships, live broadcast cameras captured Lee Chong Wei intently watching Wang Lin from the stands. Now 36 years old, Wang Lin was born into a badminton family; her father, Wang Yueping, is the head coach of the Zhejiang badminton team, and her mother, Song Youping, was also a professional badminton player. Influenced by her parents, Wang Lin started playing badminton at a very young age.
Unfortunately, her athletic career was plagued by injuries. Just a month after winning the women’s singles championship at the 2010 World Badminton Championships, she suffered a severe injury and was sent to Germany for surgery. After recovering, Wang Lin struggled to regain her peak form and suffered another injury during a competition, ultimately announcing her retirement at the age of 24. After ending her athletic career, Wang Lin remained with the Zhejiang badminton team and transitioned into coaching.
