[Saba Sports News] The Alpine F1 Team has announced a multi-year agreement with Argentine driver Franco Colapinto, who will serve as the team’s test and reserve driver for the 2025 season. According to AUTOSPORT, there are indications that Jack Doohan has only signed a short-term racing contract. If the Australian underperforms in the first race of 2025, Alpine’s signing of Colapinto can be seen as a safety measure. Colapinto expressed excitement about joining the Alpine F1 Team and gratitude for all the support from Williams Racing during his time in the academy until the final stop in Abu Dhabi. He stated that it is time to turn the page and that it is an honor to face challenges with the Alpine F1 Team. In response, Alpine’s executive advisor Flavio Briatore commented that Colapinto is one of the best young talents in motorsport today, and his performance in the F1 paddock last year surprised everyone. The team has been focused on future developments, and Colapinto’s signing means they have a pool of young drivers to call upon.
