[Saba Sports News] Sports television has seen a string of mistakes this week. FS1 personality Colin Cowherd made a notable error during Tuesday’s episode of “The Herd.”
While discussing the top ten players in this year’s NBA conference finals, Cowherd ranked Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns at No. 7 and claimed Towns was one of five players this postseason to log a triple-double. In reality, Towns hasn’t achieved a triple-double this postseason, with his highest assist count being five.
The five players who have logged triple-doubles this postseason are Dallas’ Luka Doncic (four), Denver’s Nikola Jokic (two), Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid, Boston’s Jayson Tatum, and Indiana’s Tyrese Haliburton (all with one). Towns has only recorded two triple-doubles in his career, both in the regular season and none this year.
Cowherd’s mistake might have been due to an incorrect fact sheet. This error follows a similar one made by an ESPN counterpart regarding the Western Conference Finals just a day earlier.
