[Saba Sports News] The trade market for Chicago Bulls All-Star Zach LaVine has reportedly cooled, opening the door for an unexpected Western Conference team to make a move.
The Los Angeles Clippers are now seen as potential contenders for LaVine, whether the trade happens “before the season or at the deadline,” according to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times. The Bulls have been eager to find a trade partner for LaVine, who has three years and nearly $140 million left on his contract.
Due to the lack of interest, the Bulls have significantly lowered their asking price for LaVine since May.
The Clippers might be looking to replace Paul George, who was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. While LaVine may not be on George’s level, he has two All-Star appearances and has consistently averaged 20 points per game over the last six seasons.
However, LaVine’s career has been marred by injuries, surpassing the 70-game mark only once since the 2016-17 season. With Kawhi Leonard already on the team, the Clippers may need to enhance their training staff if they acquire LaVine.
