[Saba Sports News] According to recent reports,
Thibaut Courtois, the current goalkeeper for La Liga’s Real Madrid, expressed
his optimism about Erling Haaland winning the FIFA Best Men’s Football Player
of the Year award. FIFA had announced Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, and Erling
Haaland as the three candidates for the award. Courtois believes that Haaland
deserves the accolade the most, citing his achievements such as winning the
Champions League, Premier League, and FA Cup, as well as his impressive
goal-scoring record. Courtois acknowledged the accomplishments of the other two
players but emphasized Haaland’s contributions. Although Haaland has faced
injury issues this season, his overall performance and goal-scoring abilities
have been highly regarded. Recently, he won the 2023 Norwegian Golden Ball
award, which recognizes the best player in the country. This marked Haaland’s
first win of the award, and it was his fourth consecutive year being honored
since his initial win in 2016.
