[Saba Sports News] In the third round of Group B in the European Championship, Croatia drew 1-1 against Italy. Notably, in the second half, Croatia was awarded a penalty, which was taken by Luka Modric but saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma. Croatia has now missed two penalty kicks in this tournament. During Spain’s 3-0 victory over Croatia, Bruno Petkovic took a penalty but was saved by Unai Simon. Petkovic then scored but the goal was disallowed due to Ivan Perisic entering the penalty area early. Stats show that Croatia is the third team in the history of the European Championship to miss two penalty kicks in a single tournament, following the Netherlands in the 2000 European Championship and Spain in the 2020 European Championship. At the end of the group stage in Group B, Croatia finished in third place with 2 draws and 1 loss. Their qualification for the next stage is yet to be determined.
