[Saba Sports News] In the FA Cup match between Everton and Peterborough United, veteran Ashley Young and his son Taylor Young could have played together, but head coach Darren Ferguson did not substitute Taylor Young onto the field. Ashley Young came on as a substitute in the 73rd minute, but Darren Ferguson did not allow 18-year-old Taylor Young to play. The historic moment in the FA Cup did not happen, leaving fans disappointed. Darren Ferguson’s decision sparked outrage among fans, with some calling for his dismissal. In response, Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony firmly defended Darren Ferguson, stating that the criticisms were baseless and unreasonable. Darragh MacAnthony stated: “This nonsense must stop; the coach’s actions were 100% correct. This is not a friendly or exhibition match. Taylor Young has performed excellently in U21 matches, showing significant improvement and bright prospects, but considering the circumstances of the match, it would have been inappropriate to put him on with only a few minutes remaining.” Calling for Darren Ferguson’s dismissal is foolish, frankly, it’s utterly ridiculous.
