Following the release of a video featuring Coote, the referees’ association suspended him pending an investigation, which has now concluded with his dismissal. The referees’ association stated in an official statement: “After a thorough investigation into David Coote’s conduct, his employment with PGMOL has been terminated effective immediately.” Coote’s actions were deemed a serious violation of the terms of his employment contract, making him unfit to continue in the referee position. However, continued support for Coote is still important to us, and we will remain committed to his welfare. Coote retains the right to appeal the termination of his employment. Previously, a video surfaced online showing Coote insulting Liverpool and manager Klopp, calling Liverpool “dog shit” and Klopp a “bitch.”
