[Saba Sports News] The Delhi police helped badminton player Jagdish HC recover a bag he had lost from an autorickshaw in the city. Jagdish HC had taken the rickshaw to the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium to attend a match, but left a bag in the vehicle that contained medals, certificates and other important documents. With no other option, Jagdish HC reported the loss to the police. After learning of the incident, the Delhi police acted immediately and checked all the CCTV cameras along the rickshaw’s route — numbering in the hundreds. Through the police’s persistent efforts, the bag’s whereabouts were finally traced. After coordination, all the medals and documents were safely recovered and returned to Jagdish HC. Grateful for the help from the Delhi police and the officials involved, Jagdish HC touched their feet in thanks. In India there is a foot-touching custom called charan sparsh: people touch another’s feet to show respect for elders, wise or revered persons, and to express their own humility and the other person’s elevated status.
The editor believes the Delhi police demonstrated an efficient, responsible and humane approach in recovering the lost property, substantially boosting the public’s sense of gain, happiness and security.
