[Saba Sports News] Those rooting for Dillon Brooks’ downfall have officially won.
Brooks and Team Canada were eliminated from gold medal contention at the Paris Olympics on Tuesday after losing to France 82-73 in the quarterfinals. The Houston Rockets swingman had a particularly rough game, scoring only two points on 1-for-9 shooting and missing all three of his attempts from deep.
Brooks also had an embarrassing moment when he was blocked by France’s Victor Wembanyama in the fourth quarter. As expected, memes quickly followed. Check out some of the best posts on X roasting him.
With stars like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, RJ Barrett, and Luguentz Dort, Canada was favored to reach the gold medal game, especially with Team USA on the other side of the bracket. However, poor performances from Brooks and Jamal Murray (seven points on 3-for-13 shooting) contributed to Canada not even medaling.
Brooks, a former NBA All-Defensive player known for his trash talk, had taken shots at Team USA this summer. Ironically, Canada was eliminated two rounds before they could have faced Team USA in the Olympics.
