[Saba Sports News] The Golden State Warriors made an unexpected move by adding Chris Paul during the offseason. For one of the team’s current stars, this was initially a challenging reality to accept. Draymond Green, a key figure for the Warriors, had considered CP3 as a longtime adversary. The two had been on opposing Western Conference teams for over a decade until they joined forces this past summer.
In a recent interview with ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk, Green was questioned about the extent of his “dislike” for Paul before the trade. He was asked to rate his feelings on a scale from 1 to 10. Green’s response was emphatic: “Eleven! I strongly disliked him,” he told Youngmisuk. “Eleven! But I also believe that’s a form of respect. We’ve managed to overcome that hurdle now,” Green added, referring to the fact that Paul is now his teammate. “But there will be another challenge in actually playing together, which will require some adjustment. Nevertheless, I’m excited about it.”
Warriors General Manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. revealed that he had conversations with both Paul and the Warriors’ “Big 3” consisting of Green, Stephen Curry, and Klay Thompson before finalizing the trade. Dunleavy acknowledged that all four of them initially had reservations about the move but later recognized its potential for greatness.
The next phase involves Warriors head coach Steve Kerr’s task of effectively incorporating Paul into the team’s rotation. There reportedly is a plan in place for CP3 to start the season, but how it unfolds remains to be seen.
