[Saba Sports News] Dwight Howard sees a golden opportunity with one of the NBA’s rising championship contenders.
The eight-time All-Star made his case this week on Kevin Garnett’s podcast, *KG Certified*, pitching himself to the Oklahoma City Thunder, who are currently dealing with a depleted frontcourt.
“OKC, your boy is ready,” Howard said. “Y’all need a big. Y’all need a vet. Y’all need somebody that’s gonna bring some energy. I ain’t got nothing to do neither!”
The Thunder, off to a stellar 10-2 start, have the potential to make a deep playoff run. However, their frontcourt depth has taken a hit. Star center Chet Holmgren is sidelined until at least January with a hip injury, while backups Isaiah Hartenstein (fractured hand) and Jaylin Williams (hamstring) are also out.
This has forced OKC to rely on unconventional options like 6-foot-5 Jalen Williams as a small-ball center and 6-foot-9 Ousmane Dieng off the bench.
Howard, who turns 39 next month, hasn’t played in the NBA since the 2021-22 season but has remained active. He spent time playing in Taiwan, appeared on Dancing with the Stars, and recently launched a business venture.
Despite his off-court endeavors, Howard is eager for an NBA comeback and believes his veteran presence could bolster the Thunder’s young, dynamic roster.
