[Saba Sports News] Dwight Howard’s extensive recruiting efforts are paying off.
Shams Charania of The Athletic reported Tuesday that former NBA All-Star Dwight Howard has successfully recruited two of his ex-Lakers teammates to join him in Taiwan. DeMarcus Cousins and Quinn Cook will play with Howard on the Taiwan Mustangs during the Asian Tournament in July.
Howard, Cousins, and Cook were all part of the Los Angeles Lakers’ 2020 NBA championship team, though Cousins didn’t play that season due to a torn ACL. Now, they will reunite on the Mustangs, a team in a league Howard partly owns.
DeMarcus Cousins, 33, who last played in the NBA during the 2022-23 season, has been in Taiwan with the Taiwan Beer Leopards, leading them to a championship and earning Finals MVP. Quinn Cook, 31, has played overseas in Russia, China, and Puerto Rico since his last NBA stint in 2020-21.
Howard, 38, has been in Taiwan since 2022, initially with the Leopards and now with the Mustangs. Known for his humorous attempts to recruit NBA stars to Taiwan, Howard’s efforts are finally bearing fruit.
