[Saba Sports News] This year, EA’s football game
underwent a rebranding, transitioning from the “FIFA” series to
EAFC24. According to reports from British media, EA’s decision to separate from
FIFA could save the company approximately £120 million in annual licensing
fees. Despite the breakup, EAFC24 is projected to generate annual revenue of £6
billion. Previously, EA had been required to pay FIFA an annual licensing fee
of around $150 million, equivalent to approximately £122 million. By ending the
partnership, EA has successfully avoided this expense. However, this licensing
fee had been one of FIFA’s major sources of income each year. To compensate, EA
has secured numerous licenses worldwide, ensuring that EAFC24 retains
copyrights for major events like the Premier League and Champions League, as
well as player likenesses. In a recent press conference held in London, EA
showcased EAFC24 as a cultural phenomenon that can generate significant revenue
for the company independently, without the need for collaboration with FIFA.
