[Saba Sports News] Ipswich Town officially announced that singer Ed Sheeran has acquired a minority stake in the club. Ed Sheeran is a loyal fan of Ipswich Town and has been the shirt sponsor for both the men’s and women’s teams since 2021. It is reported that Ed Sheeran acquired a portion of Ipswich Town’s shares through his company, Gamechanger 20. Currently, Ed Sheeran owns 1.4% of Ipswich Town’s shares. Ed Sheeran stated, “I am incredibly excited to have acquired a small share of my hometown football club. Owning a share of the club you support is a dream for any fan, and I am grateful for this opportunity. I have lived in Suffolk since I was three years old, and while I often travel the world and sometimes feel like an outsider in big cities, Suffolk and Ipswich have always made me feel like part of the community and have given me a lot of protection.” As part of the agreement, he will have long-term use of an executive box at Portman Road and has personalized it before the 2024-25 season. Ed Sheeran will not join the club’s board of directors as this is just a passive small investment.
