[Saba Sports News] The PJ Tucker era in Los Angeles has come to an end. On Sunday, the LA Clippers announced they reached a mutual agreement with the veteran forward to part ways.
“We’ve had ongoing conversations with PJ throughout the offseason and have both decided that he won’t be with the team for the time being,” the Clippers’ statement read. “PJ is a pro who has achieved a lot in his career and has more he wants to accomplish. We will continue working with PJ and his representative to find the best situation for him moving forward.”
Once known as one of the league’s top gritty role players, Tucker started for the Milwaukee Bucks during their 2021 championship run. However, now 39, Tucker posted career-low averages of 1.7 points per game on 36.0% shooting last season.
Tucker’s fit with the Clippers was rocky from the start. He joined last year as part of the James Harden trade with the 76ers and struggled to find a consistent spot in the rotation, spending significant time as a healthy scratch. His frustration led to him being sent home and fined by the team last season, signaling that the match was never quite right.
