[Saba Sports News] Recently, F1 analyst Peter Windsor offered blunt criticism regarding McLaren’s disappointing weekend at the F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, where Oscar Piastri retired after a first-lap crash and Lando Norris could only manage seventh place. Windsor first analyzed McLaren and Norris’s performance on his YouTube channel, commenting: “Having a set of new medium tyres was a huge advantage relative to George Russell, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Carlos Sainz, Liam Lawson, Yuki Tsunoda, Charles Leclerc, and of course Max Verstappen. But despite that, he was beaten by Verstappen by over 30 seconds. Norris did beat the two Ferraris, but he was slow on the restart.” Windsor pointed out Norris’s lack of aggression and speculated how Verstappen would have handled the same situation. “He passed the Ferraris, but that was it. Can you imagine Verstappen in that situation, just sitting there for the rest of the race, watching the opportunity slip away? He’s driving a very, very great car, benefiting from a set of new medium tyres, and that’s what Norris did. Where was the fight, where was the aggression? I can’t imagine Verstappen in that McLaren, with those tyres, enjoying the downforce advantage of that car, doing nothing – and that’s basically what Norris did.”
