However, after losing controversially to Max Verstappen in 2021, Hamilton has been distant from the championship stage, achieving only two race wins in the subsequent three years. For the 2025 season, Hamilton decided to transfer to the Ferrari team, with a clear goal of striving for his eighth world championship to become the first in F1 history and help Ferrari break its championship drought since 2007. Dutch driver Tom Coronel believes that once Hamilton wins his eighth F1 world championship, he will soon “disappear” from F1. After serving Ferrari, Hamilton won’t join another team, as no other team has the emotional connection like Ferrari. For many drivers, F1 is Ferrari, and Ferrari is F1.
