The MotoGP team Pramac recently announced that the F1 legend has joined its board of directors and will work alongside team principal Paolo Campinoti as a strategic advisor. This marks another high-profile F1 figure moving into the world of two-wheeled racing following Liberty Media’s acquisition of MotoGP.
Aged 71, Brawn has been part of some of the most glorious eras in modern Formula 1. He helped Michael Schumacher rise to stardom during their time at Benetton, played a key role in building Ferrari’s dominant dynasty, and masterminded the sensational underdog story of Brawn GP in 2009. He stands out as one of F1’s most accomplished experts in both technical development and management. Later, he took part in the early development of the Mercedes F1 team. After Liberty Media took over Formula 1 in 2017, he became a major driving force behind the sport’s technical reforms. He stepped away from the F1 paddock upon the conclusion of the 2022 season, with many believing he had retired for good.
Pramac currently sits at the bottom of the MotoGP constructors’ standings for the 2026 season with merely six points, struggling badly for competitiveness. The team is clearly looking to rebuild from the ground up, leveraging Brawn’s extensive management expertise and proven ability to build championship-calibre operations.
