[Saba Sports News] What would it be like to hear a woman’s voice commanding French driver Esteban Ocon during a race for the TR team? Recently, Haas F1 Team announced that Laura Muller will serve as Ocon’s race engineer for the 2025 season, making her the first female race engineer in F1 history. Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu stated that Muller’s tenacious personality aligns perfectly with Ocon’s character. Muller has been involved in motorsport for a decade, having participated in various competitions, including LMP2, LMP3, DTM, and GT3 before joining Haas F1 Team. In my view, Muller’s transition from performance engineer to race engineer is groundbreaking and marks a significant step for women in the traditionally male-dominated motorsport field. There are not many examples in F1 history of women holding important positions, with the most notable being Red Bull Racing’s chief strategy engineer Hannah Schmitz, who is credited with several of the team’s comeback victories.
