[Saba Sports News] This summer break, the United States will host a major event, the new Club World Cup. To prepare for this event, FIFA has begun training referees for the Club World Cup, with training sessions taking place around the world as referees come from various regions. It is also worth noting that the Club World Cup will implement new rules approved by IFAB on March 1, 2025, including measures to reduce goalkeeper time-wasting, and referees will trial wearing body cameras to provide a new perspective for spectators and assist in referee training. The author believes that with 32 teams participating in the new Club World Cup, featuring top clubs from around the globe, the tactics, player styles, and competitions will be more diverse and intense, posing higher demands on the referees’ ability to make calls. Through training, referees will better understand the tactical characteristics and playing styles of different teams, accurately judge various complex on-field situations, and make fair and accurate decisions.
