[Saba Sports News] The Phoenix Suns are widely expected to trade Kevin Durant this offseason, and the market for the two-time NBA Finals MVP is beginning to take shape.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Suns have held multiple meetings over the past week with Durant’s business partner, Rich Kleiman, to explore potential trade destinations. The goal is for both sides to work together in finding a landing spot that suits Durant.
While several teams have shown interest, Charania reports that five franchises have been the most active in trade discussions: the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, and New York Knicks. Additional teams have also reached out to Phoenix.
Durant is owed $54.7 million for the 2025-26 season and will be eligible for a two-year, $112 million extension this summer. If he waits six months after being traded, that extension figure could rise to $124 million. Given Durant’s age—he turns 37 in September—and his injury history, securing an extension sooner rather than later may be a priority, potentially influencing trade talks.
Despite his age, Durant remained dominant this past season, averaging 26.6 points per game. While there have been rumors that he favors a move to a particular Western Conference team, Durant does not hold a no-trade clause, limiting his control over the final decision.
If Durant wants to continue competing at a high level and secure a contract extension, his options may be somewhat limited. Still, the Suns appear willing to work with him to find the best possible fit.
