[Saba Sports News] Recently, Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis publicly responded for the first time to rumors of tension between him and head coach Nuno Espirito Santo. Marinakis insisted that the two maintain a “solid relationship” and will hold key talks in the coming days. Although Nuno said in a press conference last week that his relationship with the owner was “not great,” sparking speculation that he might be sacked or even resign voluntarily, Marinakis clarified in an interview with TNT Sports: “We have a solid relationship; everyone wants Nottingham Forest to succeed. Even if there is sometimes tension and unnecessary words are said, what truly matters is the real relationship between us.” In fact, conflicts between the two emerged as early as last season. After Nottingham Forest drew 2-2 with Leicester City, Marinakis angrily rushed onto the pitch to confront the head coach. However, Nuno firmly denied the resignation rumors, stating: “Ridiculous, I would never resign. I am very relaxed. We all want Forest to be better.” As Nottingham Forest return to European competition after many years, they are set to face Porto, Real Betis, and Malmo FF in the Europa League, and Nuno is still expected to lead the team.
