[Saba Sports News] According to Spanish media reports, former Espanyol player Alvaro Aguado Mendez appeared in court over alleged sexual assault. The court session lasted only five minutes. The judge informed him that he had been formally charged, but Aguado insisted the relationship was consensual. The victim stated that she felt very unwell that night and did not consent to the sexual activity. It is understood that Aguado claimed the encounter with the club staff member was consensual, lasted for three minutes, and was interrupted when a mobile phone fell. However, the victim stated that she was touched while dancing and was then taken to a bathroom where she was sexually assaulted. The court considered the forensic report and witness statements, which supported the victim’s account. The case also includes messages the victim sent to a friend after the incident, describing the events of that night. The victim stated she felt “unwell, dizzy, and exhausted” and did not want to dance with Aguado. Aguado claimed that she approached him voluntarily while dancing, later felt unwell due to excessive drinking and went to the restroom, and the victim followed him, leading to consensual sexual activity. Most witnesses stated they could not recall the specific details of that night due to excessive alcohol consumption and the passage of time. Aguado’s lawyer has formally filed an appeal, alleging judicial bias and arguing that the judge’s description of the facts does not align with the victim’s statement and other witness testimonies.
