[Saba Sports News] A former NBA player was ejected from a European finals game this week after pulling an “Anthony Edwards”-style move.
Ex-NBA guard Evan Fournier was tossed from Friday’s Greek Basketball League (GBL) Finals matchup between Olympiacos and Panathinaikos. Now playing for Olympiacos, Fournier was ejected during the fourth quarter of the best-of-five series’ third game.
The incident occurred at OAKA Basketball Arena, home of Panathinaikos, where cameras caught Fournier making an obscene gesture toward a courtside fan—not once, but three times. He had already been assessed an unsportsmanlike foul earlier in the game, and the technical foul for the gesture triggered an automatic ejection.
According to BasketNews, the targeted fan retaliated by throwing an advertising board onto the court, briefly halting play. Fournier wasn’t the only one ejected—Panathinaikos head coach Ergin Ataman and guard Kendrick Nunn were also thrown out later for unrelated outbursts.
Despite the chaos, Olympiacos won 99-88 and now holds a 2-1 lead in the series heading into Sunday’s Game 4. Fournier, 32, played in the NBA from 2012 to 2024, most recently logging 29 games with the Detroit Pistons. Known for his fiery demeanor, Fournier was also ejected from an international friendly last year after a scuffle involving a chokehold.
