[Saba Sports News] It’s unlikely that Giannis Antetokounmpo, the star of the Milwaukee Bucks, will extend an invitation to Evan Turner for any workout sessions in the foreseeable future.
Antetokounmpo was a recent guest on an episode of the “48 Minutes” podcast on the Bleav Network, during which he discussed his plans to train with Houston Rockets legend Hakeem Olajuwon before the upcoming season.
During the podcast, Antetokounmpo also shed light on why he refrains from working out with active NBA players, a point he made at the 6:38-minute mark. His explanation centered on his reluctance to be insincere or fake in his interactions.
He prefers to maintain some distance from his peers to prevent the risk of losing his competitive edge when he faces them on the basketball court. In his own words, Antetokounmpo stated, “I don’t know how to be phony. I don’t know how to be fake. That’s why I kind of keep my distance, because I know that if I work out with people, active players, it takes off my edge when I play against them.”
Evan Turner, the second overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, implied that there was a different reason behind Antetokounmpo not hosting any workout sessions. On a Wednesday, Turner took to social media, seemingly directing a message at the Bucks’ star. He wrote, “Ain’t nobody coming to Milwaukee to work out wit (sic) you and your brother.”
While Turner didn’t explicitly mention Giannis by name, it was evident that he was referring to Antetokounmpo, who plays for the Bucks alongside his brother, Thanasis Antetokounmpo. Over the past decade, Giannis has seemed content to work out with his brother in Milwaukee.
However, the 28-year-old’s recent comments suggest that the future of his career in Wisconsin may not be set in stone.
