[Saba Sports News] British media reports that former Southampton player Victor Udo has passed away at the young age of 21. The young footballer was found dead in Abuja, the capital city of his home country Nigeria. The exact cause of his death remains unknown. He returned to Nigeria shortly after the conclusion of the football season in the Czech Republic. A forward by position, Udo moved from Abuja to Belgium in his teens to pursue his football career at Royal Antwerp. He joined the club’s youth academy and worked his way up the ranks, scoring 12 goals in 21 youth team appearances. Thanks to his impressive form, he made his senior debut in the Belgian professional league at just 19 years old. In January 2025, Southampton signed the rising talent to a three-and-a-half-year contract, assigning him directly to the club’s development squad.
The editor believes that Udo once again showed the impressive form that propelled his rapid rise at Royal Antwerp, notching 2 goals and 1 assist across 8 appearances. However, he failed to break into the first team of this Premier League side. Shortly after the start of the 2025-26 season, he left the club by mutual consent after a stay of just a few months.
