[Saba Sports News] Pakistan batter Ahmed Shehzad has replaced his former teammate Shoaib Malik in the Fortune Barishal squad for the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024.
Malik left Bangladesh and returned to Dubai after playing just three matches in the ongoing BPL season. Reports circulated on Friday that Fortune Barishal has terminated his contract citing spot-fixing allegations as he bowled three no-balls in a single over in the match against Khulna tigers.
However, Fortune Barishal owner Mizanur Rahman and Malik himself denied these allegations, sharing that he has come to Dubai due to personal reasons.
Shehzad landed in Bangladesh on Friday and is available for the fixture scheduled against Chattogram Challengers on January 27.
“Landed in Sylhet for Bangladesh Premier League 2024. First match tomorrow In Shaa Allah! Go, Fortune Barishal,” Shehzad tweeted.
In 249 T20s, Shehzad has scored 6,838 runs, including five hundreds, at an average of 29.34 and a strike-rate of 124.07.
