[Saba Sports News] In the women’s singles final of the All Japan Badminton Championships, 18-year-old Japanese prodigy Tomoka Miyazaki defeated Nidaira Natsuki with scores of 21:18, 21:14, securing her first career championship. She became the fourth female high school student to win this event since the Heisei era (1989-2019), following Aiko Miyamura, Nozomi Okuhara, and Akane Yamaguchi. After the match, Miyazaki expressed that she entered the competition with a challenging mindset. Although she felt anxious and nervous, she persevered and continued to attack until the end. Having dreamed of standing on the championship podium since childhood, she admires Okuhara and Yamaguchi and feels thrilled to achieve similar success. After her victory, Miyazaki will not rest for long, as she is set to participate in the Malaysia Open Badminton Championships on January 9. Currently, her women’s singles world ranking has risen to 12th, making her a potential medal contender in badminton at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
