[Saba Sports News] Steph Curry was Team USA’s star in the 2024 Paris Olympics gold medal game, but French announcers saw him differently.
During Saturday’s 98-87 win over France at Bercy Arena, Curry dropped 24 points—all from three-pointers. Half of his eight threes came in the final three minutes, including a dagger that sparked an iconic celebration with LeBron James.
The France 2 broadcast could sense what was coming when Curry hit his first clutch three-pointer at the 2:48 mark.
“This devil named Curry, this devil named Curry is hurting us,” the announcer said, according to the English translation. While something may have been lost in translation, it’s still amusing to hear Curry described that way just for being so good.
Curry led Team USA in scoring for the second straight game, having put on a similar show in the semifinal against Serbia.
Watching Curry, James, and Kevin Durant on the same team might be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. After his historic performance, Curry hinted that these Olympics might be his last—a relief, perhaps, for French fans everywhere.
