[Saba Sports News] The F1 US Grand Prix has many fun facts that fans may not know. Historical records show that the US Grand Prix dates back to the early 20th century when it was known as “The Grand Prize.” In the 2002 season’s US Grand Prix, it created F1 history with the closest finish between first and second place; Rubens Barrichello crossed the finish line just 0.011 seconds ahead of his teammate Michael Schumacher. During the 2022 race weekend, a total of 440,000 fans attended at COTA, setting a new record for F1. The first corner of COTA has a height difference of 40.5 meters, making it the corner with the largest elevation change in this year’s calendar; drivers effectively climb the height of 12 stories in an instant. Some corners at COTA are inspired by Silverstone Circuit, Hockenheim Circuit, Istanbul Park Circuit, Interlagos Circuit, and Bahrain International Circuit, allowing drivers to experience various track styles. British driver Lewis Hamilton holds the record for most wins at the US Grand Prix with six victories; he also secured his F1 world championship here twice in 2015 and 2019.
