[Saba Sports News] There is new news regarding Max Verstappen’s rumored move to Mercedes. Verstappen’s future brother-in-law, Nelson Piquet Jr., mentioned in a podcast called Pelas Pistas that Mercedes might have opportunities in 2026, seemingly accidentally revealing that Verstappen will drive for Mercedes next year. In the program, Piquet said, “This year, Mercedes has had some difficult weekends, and there’s not much they can do. One of their drivers is a rookie, who was hit by Isack Hadjar last weekend. Anyway, this weekend wasn’t great for Mercedes. But who knows what changes Max could bring next year?” When Piquet realized he had slipped up, he quickly stopped speaking. However, the podcast host immediately caught the moment. Although Piquet emphasized that no contract has been signed yet, he did mention that Mercedes is a reasonable choice. Piquet also revealed that Verstappen will make a decision before August. If Verstappen moves to Mercedes, Piquet believes Andrea Kim Antonelli will join him.
