[Saba Sports News] The well-known on-field altercation between former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli has been a topic of discussion. However, Gambhir recently gained admiration for his remarks on Kohli’s 50th ODI century, achieved during the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. Kohli’s milestone came against New Zealand in the semi-final at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. When asked about the bowler during Kohli’s significant achievement, Gambhir accurately recalled it was Lockie Ferguson, emphasizing that his disputes with Kohli are confined to the field.
The notable clash between Gambhir and Kohli occurred in the 2023 IPL during a match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants. The incident escalated when Gambhir, then mentoring LSG, got involved in a post-match discussion between Kohli and LSG’s Naveen-ul-Haq. This wasn’t their first confrontation, with a previous incident dating back to IPL 2013.
Gambhir, now appointed as mentor for Kolkata Knight Riders in the upcoming IPL season, also commented on the acquisition of Mitchell Starc, the most expensive player in the IPL 2024 auction, bought by KKR for INR 24.75 crore. He praised Starc’s abilities, noting his skill in bowling with the new ball, during death overs, and leading the attack.
