[Saba Sports News] According to Spanish media reports, the Spanish National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) has fined Barcelona legend Gerard Piqué €200,000 for profiting from stock purchases made by using inside information back in 2021. The CNMV issued the penalty decision on April 22, 2026, and published it in the official bulletin this Monday. Two individuals were sanctioned: Navarro was fined €100,000 for disclosing inside information, while Piqué received a €200,000 fine for purchasing 104,166 shares of Aspy Global Services using undisclosed insider tips. On January 20, 2021, after obtaining confidential information leaked by Navarro about Atrys Health’s planned acquisition of Aspy Global Services, Piqué bought the aforementioned shares and sold them on January 27 to make a profit. The CNMV ruled that both parties had committed very serious regulatory violations. The sanction has taken administrative effect, though Piqué may file for judicial review with the Administrative Litigation Division of the National Court.
The editor believes that Gerard Piqué, fully aware he possessed inside information provided by Navarro, purchased 104,166 shares of Aspy Global Services. He later sold the shares and obtained illegal financial gains as a result. Piqué’s act of trading stocks by taking advantage of insider information constitutes a serious economic crime.
