[Saba Sports News] According to Spanish media reports, Barcelona encountered serious pitch issues in the away game against Getafe, raising the risk of player injuries. La Liga officials measured the turf height before kickoff and confirmed it met regulatory standards. Even so, sprinklers in the defensive zones activated accidentally right before the match, delaying the start of the second half. Barcelona has frequently faced problematic away pitches lately, especially at stadiums across the Madrid region. Previously, the club filed an official complaint to UEFA over the excessively long turf at Atletico Madrid’s home ground. Against Getafe, the grass was not only longer than normal but also extremely dry, despite watering during pre-match warm-ups. The abnormal surface significantly slowed ball rolling, disrupting Barcelona’s playing style and tactical rhythm. Worse still, the uneven, dry turf greatly heightens the risk of slips, strains and other physical injuries for players.
The editor believes that La Liga measured the turf height at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez ahead of the match to ensure it complied with the regulations. However, it remains unclear whether Barcelona has filed an official complaint over the issue.
