Sports News] According to reports from British media, the Ghana Football
Association is making efforts to persuade Manchester United midfielder Kobbie
Mainoo to opt for representing Ghana in international competitions instead of
choosing to play for England. The 18-year-old Mainoo has been performing
impressively lately, having made 15 appearances for Manchester United’s first
team this season. It is noteworthy that both of Mainoo’s parents are of
Ghanaian descent, and he frequently visits Ghana during his vacations. While he
has played for various levels in England, he has yet to make an appearance for
the senior England national team. In light of this, the Ghana Football
Association believes they have a chance to sway his decision. The association
stated, “The Ghana Football Association is interested in scouting, attracting,
and convincing all qualified individuals to join the Ghana national team.
Mainoo is undoubtedly one of those incredible talents, and the Ghana Football
Association would love to have him, along with many players like him, play for
Ghana.” It remains uncertain which side Mainoo will ultimately choose to
represent.
