[Saba Sports News] After his historic performance against the Indiana Pacers, Giannis Antetokounmpo experienced a disappointing postgame moment. In the Milwaukee Bucks’ 140-126 victory, where Antetokounmpo scored a career-high 64 points, setting both a personal and Bucks franchise record, he sought to keep the game ball as a memento. However, as reported by Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports, the Pacers took the ball away, leading to a disagreement.
The situation escalated when Antetokounmpo, visibly upset, was seen confronting Pacers members, including star guard Tyrese Haliburton and assistant coach Lloyd Pierce, without the ball in his possession.
The initial reason provided by a Pacers player for taking the ball involved Indiana rookie Oscar Tshiebwe scoring his first career point during the game. However, the ball was later retrieved for Antetokounmpo by Bucks security.
The game itself was fraught with tension, including a review for a possible flagrant foul after Haliburton was knocked over by Antetokounmpo, and a later altercation involving both teams after a hard foul on Antetokounmpo by Indiana’s Aaron Nesmith.
The rising tension was further fueled by the Bucks keeping their starters in the game until the end, despite a significant lead.
This incident adds to Antetokounmpo’s history of unusual postgame events, following a notable incident in Philadelphia last season.
