However, it is surprising that this year, for the first time, gray flooring has replaced the traditional green flooring that has been used for over a century. While this change has visually revitalized the competition venue, it has also sparked discussions among the media and fans. Danish badminton star Viktor Axelsen expressed strong dissatisfaction, stating that the gray flooring gives a sense of loss, hopelessness, lack of motivation, and confidence, negatively impacting athletes’ competitive spirit. In contrast, traditional green and blue flooring represents rebirth and hope, while red flooring symbolizes strength and passion, all of which are more conducive to athletes’ performance. I believe that Axelsen’s high standards as a world-class badminton player are understandable. After all, excellent athletes often pursue optimal competitive conditions, and the competition environment and facilities are crucial factors influencing performance. Therefore, Axelsen’s dissatisfaction with the venue arrangement and the gray flooring may indeed reflect his disappointment with the competition environment and facilities.
