[Saba Sports News] Recently, the Haas F1 Team officially announced that Romain Grosjean will drive the VF-23 car in a TPC (Testing of Previous Cars) test at the Mugello Circuit in Italy. This marks Grosjean’s first time driving an F1 car since the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix. During his F1 career, Grosjean achieved 10 podium finishes. In the 2020 F1 Bahrain Grand Prix, Grosjean was involved in a severe accident where his car hit a barrier and caught fire. In a critical 28.7-second rescue operation, marshals extracted him from the burning vehicle. Although timely medical attention ensured he sustained no major life-threatening injuries, he suffered minor burns to his hands and ankles, which caused him to miss the final two races of that season. It is reported that, under the arrangement by the Haas team, Team Principal Ayao Komatsu will once again serve as his engineer for this test. Regarding this, Komatsu said, “I have worked with Romain throughout my F1 career, so this test holds special significance for both of us. I’m delighted he accepted the invitation to return and drive an F1 car. This day will be even more special as many members from the original crew will be present to witness it.”
