[Saba Sports News] The cause of Lewis Hamilton’s slip-up during the Belgian Grand Prix has finally been revealed. It turns out to be the new Brembo braking system he used for the first time. This new component had previously been used by Charles Leclerc at the Canadian Grand Prix. Now it was Hamilton’s turn, but it led to a dangerous lock-up during qualifying, causing him to slide off the track – a rare braking lock-up incident in his career. After the race, Hamilton didn’t hide his feelings, saying: “We installed a new part on the car, which Leclerc used in Montreal. Leclerc crashed during practice in that race, and I also slipped during my first use.” According to reports, the new part is a new combination of Brembo brake discs and pads designed for greater braking sensitivity, requiring a very specific driving style. The unfamiliar braking system combined with Ferrari’s strong engine braking characteristics led to a severe slide on the Bus Stop Curve at Spa, dropping Hamilton to 18th place on the grid. Although he managed to finish seventh in the race starting from the pit lane, Hamilton probably wouldn’t want to experience such a nightmare again.
