[Saba Sports News] The 2024 Shanghai Vehicle Model Championship recently kicked off successfully. The championship features four categories: 1/10 electric touring car, 1/10 electric off-road vehicle, 1/12 electric road car, and 1/24 electric rally car. While the movement of vehicle models may seem simple, it actually involves a significant amount of technology. Though it may resemble remote control toys that can be operated by a three-year-old, vehicle models are carefully designed, taking into account both appearance and performance. Just like real racing, drivers need to choose different vehicle settings and tire models based on objective factors such as weather and venue conditions on race day. It turns out that many Formula 1 drivers are masters of RC remote control cars, including Lewis Hamilton and Esteban Ocon. At last year’s F1 Japan Suzuka Station, Ocon and RC remote control car world champion Yuichi Kanai engaged in a two-car chase using a Kyosho off-road vehicle. Hamilton, on the other hand, showcased his skills with a Tamiya model Lunchbox. Both drivers had been exposed to RC remote control cars in their childhood, displaying their talents before formal training and competition in karting.
