[Saba Sports News] As Lewis Hamilton crossed the finish line fifth at the Monaco Grand Prix, his terse question to engineer Riccardo Adami over the radio instantly set the F1 paddock ablaze: “Are you angry with me or something?” After ten seconds of silence, Adami coldly reported a 48-second gap. This public radio standoff brought internal conflicts within Hamilton’s team since joining Ferrari to a head. During the race, starting from seventh position, Hamilton struggled to overtake two cars in Monaco’s narrow streets but found himself in a tactical vacuum. At this point, Adami issued cryptic instructions: “Push now, this is our race!” Hamilton repeatedly asked about the gap with the leading drivers but received no clear responses. In-car data showed he was 51 seconds behind race winner Lando Norris with tires nearing failure. After the race, Hamilton lashed out: “I had no idea what I was racing for.” Statistics show this is already the eighth radio conflict between Hamilton and Adami this season. Previously in Miami, Hamilton mocked Adami saying, “It’s tea time,” and after his miraculous comeback at Emilia, he openly complained about communication delays from Adami. Despite team principal Frederic Vasseur’s defense that tunnel areas limit wireless signals, fans noticed that when Charles Leclerc queried in the same section, his engineer always responded promptly. When questioned by the media, Hamilton denied any personal feud with Adami but admitted there needs to be “a more efficient communication system.”
