[Saba Sports News] Previously, Christian Horner participated in a special interview with “Formula 1: Drive to Survive,” where he revealed the message sent by Mercedes F1 team principal Toto Wolff after Horner’s departure. The British team principal even joked about his old rival. In the latest season of the Netflix series, Horner recalled the content of Wolff’s message: “I didn’t know what to say because on one hand, you are truly a complete jerk, but on the other hand, this sport will lose a major player. Who am I supposed to compete with, and whom am I supposed to have this ‘love-hate relationship’ with, as you often say? Wolff and Horner have jointly secured 14 out of the last 15 World Championships. That’s not a bad statistic.” When Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton were embroiled in a fierce battle for the 2021 Drivers’ Championship, Horner and Wolff also engaged in a heated exchange off the track. The following year, during a tense team principal meeting in Canada, Horner famously told Wolff, “If you have a problem, then get a damn car.”
The editor believes that over the years, fans have thoroughly enjoyed the intellectual sparring between Horner and Wolff. Everyone can appreciate the competition, rivalry, and pointed exchanges that both have brought to the sport. As the data suggests, no one can compare to them.
