[Saba Sports News] KL Rahul made his much-awaited comeback in style, scoring a blistering ton versus Pakistan in the Super Four fixture of the Asia Cup 2023.
While Shreyas Iyer was slated to feature in clash, he suffered back spasms as Rahul entered into the playing XI in his place.
There were question marks on Rahul’s fitness. However, he put a full-stop to to all of those, taking the Pakistan bowling attack to the cleaners in his flamboyant 106-ball 111.
Although the first innings truly told that Rahul – the batter is back, doubts prevailed over his wicket-keeping.
India had another gloveman in the form of Ishan Kishan and there was no confirmation on who will be performing the wicket-keeping duties in the second innings.
India adopted a unusual approach to this. While Kishan donned the gloves up until the sixth over, he transferred the role to Rahul, who kept the wickets from there.
Meanwhile, rain has caused another interruption on what is the reserve day for the Indo-Pak affair. In reply of India’s 356-run target, Pakistan have scored 44 runs for the loss of two wickets in 11 overs.
