[Saba Sports News] Mohammed Siraj was extraordinary in the Asia Cup 2023, ending the tournament as the highest wicket-taker for India. Siraj picked 10 wickets in five matches in which he bowled 26.2 overs with a bowling average of 12.20. In the final of the competiton, he scalped six wickets against Sri Lanka.
Mohammad Kaif, a former India cricketer, wrote on “X” and praised Siraj, analyzing his bowling in which he acknowledged his great skills and big heart while trying to trap batsmen into his net. Moreover, Kaif also reckoned that Siraj will be “India’s Brahmastra” for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup, which will run from 5th October to 19th November.
Kaif wrote, ” Siraj has great skills and big heart to get a batter to edge and hit the stump on flat pitch. Mohammed Siraj will be India’s ब्रहमास्त्र (Brahmastra) at World Cup at home. @mdsirajofficial,” on his official “X” account.
The 29-year-old Siraj completed his 50th ODI wicket in 29 ODIs. The pacer took 1002 balls to reach this milestone, making him the second-fastest bowler to do this in ODIs. Ajantha Mendis was the first, as he took 847 balls to complete 50 ODI wickets.
Also, Mendis and Siraj are the only two cricketers to pick six wickets in the Asia Cup history. Moreover, Siraj’s 6-21 is the fourth-best bowling figures by an Indian bowler and 31st overall in ODI cricket. The Hyderabad-born pacer became the first Indian and fourth overall to bag four wickets in an over in ODIs.
