[Saba Sports News] The just-concluded Paris World Championships men’s doubles event saw Indonesian pairs deliver a disappointing performance, with none advancing to the quarter-finals. This marks the first time in 16 years, since the 2009 Hyderabad World Championships, that they have failed to reach the last eight, setting a shameful record for their worst performance. Indonesian men’s doubles were once kings of the World Championships, having won the title 10 times in the past 28 editions. However, despite sending three pairs, all ranked within the world’s top 10, they were completely wiped out this time, indicating they are currently in a downturn. This result will likely prompt introspection and adjustments within Indonesian badminton, concerning training methods, player selection mechanisms, and team management. They might learn from the experiences of other strong teams, strengthen the development of players’ mental toughness and consistency, and also explore tactical arrangements and technical innovations to enhance the overall strength and competitiveness of Indonesian men’s doubles. The editor believes that Indonesian men’s doubles will need to put in more effort to return to the top.
