[Saba Sports News] Leading up to the new IPL season, former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff made a rare appearance at Kolkata Knight Riders’ practice session at Eden Gardens. Flintoff, who has been gradually returning to the public eye after a life-threatening car crash in December 2022, was seen attending KKR’s warm-up game as they gear up for the 17th edition of the IPL.
The session was overseen by KKR’s mentor Gautam Gambhir and coach Chandrakant Pandit. KKR shared a picture of Flintoff’s presence on their official Instagram handle, noting his special guest appearance.
Flintoff’s car accident occurred while filming for the BBC show Top Gear, resulting in broken ribs and several facial injuries. He was airlifted to a hospital from Dunsfold Park Aerodrome. However, his gradual return to public appearances indicates positive progress from his injuries.
As for KKR’s upcoming assignments, the two-time champions will kick off their IPL 2024 campaign against the Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens on March 23. Both KKR and SRH had disappointing seasons in 2023, finishing seventh and last in the standings, respectively. However, as IPL 2024 approaches, both teams aim to improve and potentially contend for the title.
