[Saba Sports News] Former Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni dazzled the crowd with an impressive performance during his team’s clash against Delhi Capitals in the 13th game of the tournament at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Sunday, March 31.
Delhi Capitals set a target of 192 runs for CSK to chase. Towards the end of the innings, Dhoni, batting lower down the order, showcased his vintage form by scoring an unbeaten 37 runs off just 16 deliveries. However, despite his valiant effort, Chennai ultimately fell short, losing the game by 20 runs.
After the match, attention shifted to Dhoni’s longstanding leg injury, as the 42-year-old was seen with an ice pack on his left leg while offering advice to Delhi Capitals’ youngsters.
The defeat marked Chennai Super Kings’ first loss of IPL 2024, causing a shuffle in the standings. With four points from two matches, CSK now occupies second place, trailing behind the unbeaten Kolkata Knight Riders.
Meanwhile, the victory was Delhi Capitals’ first of the season, propelling them to seventh place in the standings with two points from three matches and a net run rate of -0.016.
Looking ahead, Chennai Super Kings will face Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 18th game of the tournament at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Friday, April 5. Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, will take on table-toppers Kolkata Knight Riders in their next match in Vizag on Wednesday, April 3.
